All About Karen

About Us

Karen E. Mishra, Ph.D. Clinical Professor Broad College of BusinessKaren teaches brand management and consumer behavior in the Jenkins MBA Program at NC State in Raleigh, NC. Her expertise is helping small business owners create and implement marketing plans to grow their business.  She writes about this for Entrepreneur and IvyExec.  She recently served as the startup CMO for Faro10, a Triangle-based healthcare IT startup, which focuses on improving mental health through a free app for patients and real-time analytics for clinicians.

Karen is a Gallup-certified Strengths coach and provides executive education training including sales training, leadership and team development, as well as strategic marketing planning.

Karen has a passion for helping non-profits with their marketing and communications efforts. She is PR Director for CarsINC (in the name of Christ) and helps them raise money to buy cars for single moms to help them get to/from their job. She has also served on many non-profit boards, including Samaritan Ministries in Winston-Salem, NC.  She currently serves on the board of PrestonsLeague in Durham NC.  Preston was a dear family friend who died from AML at age 4.  PrestonsLeague is our way of honoring his brave life by providing Christmas presents and supplies to the children and families who are served by the Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Department.

Karen is an MBA alum of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She served as alumni liaison for 20 years and helped to found the Detroit alumni chapter.  She is also a Tarheel, graduating with her Ph.D. in IMC from the J-School at UNC.

Karen is a lacrosse mom and enjoys a good book at the beach. She just published her third book, “A Beginner’s Guide to Mobile Marketing” with her MSU friend, Molly Garris.
