Karen teaches marketing and international business at ECU in Greenville, NC. Her expertise is helping small business owners create and implement marketing plans to grow their business. She writes about this for Entrepreneur.
Karen’s executive education teaching includes sales training, leadership and team development, as well as strategic marketing planning.
Karen has a passion for helping non-profits with their marketing and communications efforts. She helps CarsINC (in the name of Christ) raise money to buy cars for single moms to help them get to/from their job. She has also served on many non-profit boards, including Samaritan Ministries in Winston-Salem, NC.
Karen is an MBA alum of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She served as alumni liaison for 20 years and helped to found the Detroit alumni chapter. She is also a Tarheel, graduating with her Ph.D. in IMC from the J-School at UNC.
Karen is a lacrosse mom and enjoys a good book at the beach. She just published her third book, “A Beginner’s Guide to Mobile Marketing” with her MSU friend, Molly Garris.
