For the last week of my (Karen’s) management class, I shared the concept of positive leadership by our mentor, Dr. Kim Cameron, professor emeritus at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michian. As I expected, my students really resonated with this type of leadership style. They have already seen it in their lives, through their coaches, church leaders, professors, and parents, and also expect that they will be positive leaders themselves.

As an exercise in gratitude, I asked them to write three thank you notes this week, to begin their journey as a positive leader: to someone at school, someone at home, and someone from their past. I told them that I would do the same. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new generation of positive leaders who will model compassion, forgiveness and gratitude.
