The value of knowing your own strengths goes far beyond self-awareness. True, it is good to know who you are and why you are able add value in a particular way, but it is more than that.

Knowing your strengths allows you to share with others how you can quickly add value–in a new job or in a new team, even before you know exactly what the expectations will be of you in that role.

Knowing your strengths can also help you as you think about being intentional about building trust with others. There are many ways to do this, so pick methods that feel authentic to you. Don’t try to imitate what someone else is doing; you will be far more effective if you choose what works best for you.

Ultimately, knowing our strengths allows us to feel more confident about what we bring to our jobs and to our life. There are so many talents and skills we already have; find ways to share those with your team today.
